I`m currently in the process of setting up a 250 ltr micro brewery in Barlick, and have totally come to a loss as to what to call the brewery, i have had a few thoughts but then decided against them all, which included.
Pendle Witch Brewery
Mill Town Brewery
White Rose Brewery.
So i just wondered if any of you could come up with something ?, something to do with a link to Barlick but catchy, i know some of you will have heard names that i havn`t so thought i would ask,
PS if you suggest the name i go with there will be something in it, not sure what yet, but it will involve beer
If you cant fix it with an hammer, you have an electrical problem.

It's got to be Bernulf's Bitter Beer. That's if Calluna hasn't got copyright.......

Rolls connection? Whittle and names of the engines which were rivers at one time.
Mill names? 14 to choose from.
Bracewell Bitter and Stock Stout?
Old name for County Brook the boundary of the Manor was Black Brook.
Weets and Whitemoor? Butts Beck? Gillians? Wapping?
Link to monastery? St Mary's Well or Mount? Monk's bitter?

Moorhouse in Burnley already have Pendle Witch beer so there could be some confusion.
What about "Barlick Beer Mill" for the brewery name? Nolic

I'm sure in the mist of my posts on here, a while back I mused on opening a Brewery in Barlick if I won the lottery.
I would give the brewery the prosaic name of Barnoldswick Brewery.
The ales would be:
Barlick - the session bitter (picture on bottle/handpump has a red and white rose)
Billycock Best - the premium (picture on bottle etc has a billycock hat)
Bancroft Steam Ale - a steam beer, surprise surprise (picture etc the mill engine)
Rag Albert Pale Ale - picture a rag n' bone cart
Clarence Tom - a strong winter ale (picture a chap with a fresh flower in his button hole)

I like Richard's approach of the down-to-earth name Barnoldswick Brewery - it will get truncated to Barlick Brewery in common parlance, but it has a ring of authority, history, a sense of place. Don't forget that it was common for brewery companies to have a company business name and then a separate name for the brewery where the beer is made - so that gives you the opportunity for two names even before you start on the names for the brews.
Surely there will have to be a Treacle Ale in the range?
Brewery companies often also have their own range of soft drinks and you might like to sink a borehole and produce Barlick Mineral Water. the label could suggest drinking it with a slice of lemon - Lemon & Barlick Water!
Good luck with the venture - I'll be interested to know how you progress!

There are certainly no shortages of names there. Could also have Majestic Mild.

Well first of all a big Thank You to all those that have replied, there are a few names in there i`m going to mull over.
As for beer names i have most of them sorted already from perfecting them on a smaller scale, and for a start i will only be brewing one of them on a big scale until i`ve perfected it at a larger scale.
Thus far i have only got together the 4no 270ltr food grade (316) stainless vessels, i now need to modify them and also source some decent pumps for pumping both water and wort around at high tempretures, then i need to work out how to keep such a big fermenting vessel at a stable 20 deg C, even in the middle of winter, but i think i may have worked that out, so i`m hoping to have everything in place and brewing by spring.
I`ve also written to Pendle Council for permission to brew as it will be at my home for a start and you need to get approval.
I also need to find some outlets willing to take a few casks, Cellar Bar should be a good one, and also the Narrow Boat at Skipton. The Queens in Colne have already said they would be willing to put it on.
Once i do get it up and running i thought of having a lauch night, hopefully at the Cellar Bar, i just need to speak to Alan and Penny first though, so will keep it posted on here.

Broughtons (John or Julian) may be a good source for the pumps, or at least to point you in the right direction.
Sounds like a great project, look forward to trying the results in May.
Wadworths have the Bishop's Tipple, maybe the Monks House Mash works.
good luck and of course cheers.
